2019 Year In Review

December 31, 2019

As 2019 draws to a close, I would like to thank all of my constituents in Souris – Moose Mountain for putting your faith in me as your Member of Parliament. This past year was a whirlwind with the election, and I am looking forward to 2020 where myself and my Conservative colleagues will continue to hold the Liberals to account.

I am personally committed to standing up for our farmers and ranchers, especially those affected by the wet and snowy harvest season this year. I know that many are currently struggling, and the government programs designed to help producers are not useful in this time of need, something that needs to be addressed. I will also be vocal about the need for a resolution to trade disputes that are making the sale of canola nearly impossible for many grain farmers. As I have always said, our agriculture industry is the backbone of this riding, and it deserves all of the necessary support.

I will also continue to fight for our energy industry, including our oil and gas workers who are out of jobs and are worried about the certainty of their futures. These hardworking Canadians and their families need security and they need to know that their government has their back when times are tough. I will do my utmost to ensure that the voices of those who are struggling are heard in Ottawa.

Furthermore, I will also continue to represent those affected by the Liberal plan to phase out coal, and will keep on championing the use of carbon capture and storage technology at every opportunity. I truly believe that this is the way forward to reducing emissions while protecting local economies and jobs in the shorter and longer term.

Our Conservative team is united, experienced, and focused on the job we were elected to do – holding Justin Trudeau accountable and getting ready to defeat him whenever the next election comes. As your Member of Parliament, it has been an honour representing you for the last four years and I pledge to do so faithfully as we move into 2020.
