The Battle of Vimy Ridge was a defining moment for our Canadian troops. Our soldiers fought courageously so that we at home could continue to enjoy the peace, safety and security of our wonderful country. Many of our soldiers, including 422 from Saskatchewan, made the ultimate sacrifice, and that is why we gather for events, so that we may pay tribute to all of our veterans who have fought and served for Canada. Although the Battle of Vimy Ridge occurred over a century ago, we will never forget the sacrifices that our soldiers made for their country.
I would like to thank all those who have a hand in organizing ceremonies, such as the Royal Canadian Legion’s Estevan Branch. It is so important that we take the time to remember and honour our veterans.
We must always commemorate this key moment in Canada’s history and honour the brave men and women who fought to preserve our way of life.
Their country needed them,
They answered the call.
We shall not forget.
